[Takes teeth out of glass cup and puts it in his mouth] "Is there a way for members to adjust the font size of the text when viewing/editing posts? I find that the fonts in the new IPB Bulletin are way smaller than that used in the vBulletin forum. After a while, it's a bit of an eye strain to try to read such small fonts. Also, when viewing posts, there is extraneous text "Signature:--------------------" that is displayed above the user signature that I can't remove from within the user Control Panel. It's obvious what the signatue is, so I don't think that the text is necessary. Could someone plese look into removing the text? Thanks. [Done speaking, puts teeth back into glass cup]

I'm still working on a lot of stuff, and I agree on the text being smaller being a real pain, but the size is in the CSS, so I'd have to add a new theme with larger size text.

And the signature line, planning to replace it with an image, thanks for reminding me, I really should do that soon.

Hmm, It seems that the "signature line" problem was fixed a few days ago but now it seems to have reappeared again.

Complaining about the line above the sigs? Really?

Aside from some minor layout bothers that I'm sure are being worked on I have no complaints...

If the little suitcase or briefcase thing next to threads could be changed to a more interesting image that'd be cool, though its just a thought...

The images will mostly be replaced eventually, those included.

I personally feel that the delete feature is too easily abused to be worth enabling, and there are very few situations where you'd actually need something deleted as opposed to simply wanting it deleted.

If you really need a comment/thread/post of yours deleted then report it and as the report reason just say that you want it removed and why and we might remove it.

what kind of abuse can people do by deleting their own post? you can still track their posts even though they have deleted their posts right?

People will delete them for stupid reasons. They'll delete posts that have had replies/quotes made to them and make it so those replies make little or no sense. They'll delete their threads after 50+ people have replied to them. They'll delete their link system comments which can't be recovered once deleted. They'll decide they've had it with the forum and delete everything they've posted just because they feel like it.

Just so you know, we have had at least one person abuse the delete feature before when it was enabled, so I know that it can and will be abused if it's enabled again.

And yes, I do have access to all deleted posts and threads. But restoring posts if they're deleted for a dumb reason isn't as simple as clicking a button, I'd have to merge the post back into the original thread.

Over 3000 users in this forum only one person that was caught in infringement. Well majority of us do not abuse the deleting system but I started to understand why it's so abusive when it is used in a wrong way. To be frank I was quite annoyed over some mistakes I made while posting a profile comment on IS today. I often did these kind of mistakes like missing question mark, or missing a few words from what I intended to type. I wish I could edit the comment but I can't!. What if I posted a comment in a wrong profile, and I don't want him/her to notice my failure in posting the comment? I believe there should be a better deleting system where user can delete their own post within 5-30 seconds so that the abuse doesn't take in place. >_>

It only takes one person abusing it to make it into a problem. Say a user with 1000+ posts decides to go and delete everything they've posted, that would be a lot of trouble that I'd rather not have to deal with. As far as I know there isn't a way to set a time limit on deleting posts, so that's not a possibility at this time.

And like I said, if you made a post, thread, comment or anything then just report it with a reason. If it's a profile comment then just report the profile you commented on and tell us which comment(s) to delete.

By the way I just realized that there don't seem to be a report or edit feature on profile comments, I'll see about suggesting some improvements to them on IPS' forums.

Just something I want to add to this.

There's going to be a soft delete feature in IPB 3.1, meaning that deleted posts will no longer be sent to the trashcan and will instead just be made invisible to non-staff.

It will only work for posts in 3.1, not comments and such, but it's possible that soft deletion of comments may become a feature later on. If it ever does then I'll revisit this and will consider allowing users to delete their own posts/comments, but I'm not going to make any promises.
